Updated June 2011
- Kenneth Guy Evans
Kenneth was the other pilot and died in the crash. I would like to make contact with Kenneth's relatives. His parents were Guy Edward and Amy Evans, of Highbury, London.
- Thomas Leonard Lever (known as Len)
Len was the wireless operator and died in the crash. I would like to make contact with Len's relatives. He was the son of Margaret Hannah and Thomas William Lever and was from Wavertree, Liverpool. The 1911 Census gives Thomas William and Margaret Hannah Lever as living at Portwood Street, Liverpool. This is confirmed by Toxteth Cemetery records for three of Len's sisters who are buried in the same grave. Len had an older brother, John, known as Jack, who would have been 34 at the time of the crash. The Liverpool Echo and Liverpool Daily Post entries for May 1941 give the family's address as 47 Mimosa Road, Liverpool L15 at the time of Len's death (see Thomas Lever's page). According to the Toxteth Park Cemetery records Margaret was buried on 10th January 1969, aged 88.
- George Goodhall or Goodall
George helped P.C. Bruce Westlake rescue the navigator, John Stuart Jones. George was a sergeant in the Home Guard and lived at 22, Chesterfield Road, Bristol. I think I have him on the 1901 census as being born 1886 in Ashley, Bristol. At that time he is living at 12 Longfield Road. I also have a possible marriage for him to Edith T. Foley in the last quarter of 1916. I would like to make contact with any of George's relatives.
- Corporal Rosser
Cpl Rosser helped George Clifford with his attempted rescue of Kenneth Evans. He was stationed with 501st Squadron, R.A.F. at Filton, Bristol. This Unit moved to Colerne shortly after the crash. I would like to find out more about Cpl Rosser and make contact with his relatives.
- Anyone who served with 951 Balloon Squadron in Bristol
I would like to make contact with anyone who served with this squadron or relatives of those who served with it.
- Anyone with any information about Home Guard men who were in the park that night
I know that 'A' Platoon of 12th Battlion Gloucester (City of Bristol) Home Guard were in the park that night until the police arrived, but there may have been men from other platoons or battalions there as well. The police report about George Clifford mentions an unnamed Home Guard man helping him. I would like to make contact with anyone who served or whose relatives served in the Home Guard in Bristol and who were there that night.
- Former Bristol police officers/firemen
Several people have mentioned the police being present and seeling off the park. I would like to make contact with any relatives of anyone in the Bristol police force who was present in the park that night.
I would also like to make contact with any relatives of Bristol firemen who attended the crash.
- Templeman family
I have been told that a woman named Templeman, whose family once owned a garage on the corner of Berkeley Road and Gloucester Road (opposite Somerville Road), married one of the crew of balloon 51/25 that was stationed in St. Andrews Park. Does anyone know anymore about this woman?
- The Emergency First Aid Post at 61 Effingham Road
I have two accounts of the First Aid Post at 61 Effingham Road, but would like to trace anyone else who was on duty there on 30th April 1941. I am told that there was a Dorothy Nightingale who was a nurse there.
- No 50 Maintenance Unit
I know that No 50 Maintenance Unit based at the Cowley Motor Works took the wreckage of the plane away. I would like to contact anyone who served with this unit and knows anything about the recovery of T2905's wreckage
If you have any information about any of these things or anything else to do with the crash please contact me via my contact page.
